The time has come for “The Final Blizzard!” Take a much-deserved break from studying for finals with free breakfast, test-taking tips, contests and giveaways on Thursday, Dec. 10 from 9 pm to midnight in Montezuma Hall. This event is open to all SDSU students with a valid Red ID.
Also, grab your books and head over to the Commuter Resource Center during finals week! You will find a quick, free treat in the “Study Zone: Study Tips and Candy Wall” between December 10 and 16, on the second floor of Aztec Student Union in Room 210P.
Last, but certainly not least, Counseling & Psychological Services’ loveable pet therapy dog, Baxter, will be available to students in Love Library during finals time. Come de-stress with Baxter on the following days:

Get Your Research On: Student Research Symposium
Aztecs, have you been involved in research at SDSU recently? Registration is now open for the ninth annual Student Research Symposium celebrating Aztecs’ accomplishments in research, scholarship and creative activities. Whether it’s a poster presentation, a 10-minute oral presentation, or a creative arts, theatre or musical performance, students from every college and major are encouraged to participate! Cash prizes and awards will recognize outstanding research presentations and performances, and those who receive Presidential Awards will represent SDSU at the CSU Student Research Competition in May. This year’s symposium, which will take place March 4 and 5, 2016 in the Aztec Student Union, is open to all undergraduate, masters and doctoral students. Get Financial Help to Study Abroad
Studying abroad doesn’t have to cost you much – especially if you make these upcoming deadlines to apply for aid. The Fund for Education Abroad offers awards of up to $10,000 for applicants traveling in summer 2016, fall 2016 and spring 2017. Preference is given to students from groups underrepresented in studying abroad and students headed to non-traditional destinations. Apply here by January 18 at 9 am. The Boren Scholarships, an initiative of the National Security Education Program, offer funding of up to $10,000 per semester and $20,000 for a full academic year for students studying less commonly taught languages in regions critical to U.S. interest. Scholarships are available to students traveling to Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. SDSU’s campus deadline is January 8. Let’s Honor The Dream Together
This January celebrate one of our most prominent civil rights leaders by representing SDSU in the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade! All Aztecs are invited to walk alongside President Elliot Hirshman, Provost Chukuka S. Enwemeka and Vice President for Student Affairs Eric Rivera to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016. Starting at 11 am, participants can begin checking in outside the SDSU Trolley Station and join the campus' delegation as it heads to downtown San Diego where the parade will begin on the Embarcadero at 2 pm. Show your SDSU spirit by wearing red and black! Those who register with their Red ID by Thursday, Dec. 17 will be eligible to receive a free t-shirt and trolley pass! Support World AIDS Day on December 1
World AIDS Day is December 1. This global day of awareness gives people the opportunity to show support for those living with HIV and unite in the fight against HIV and AIDS. The day also serves to commemorate people who have died as a result of AIDS, which is caused by the HIV virus. In partnership with the One SDSU Community initiative, Student Life and Leadership and The Pride Center will host a campus movie screening of “The Normal Heart,” to help students understand the devastating impact of the disease. International Peer Mentorship Program
Far from your support network and navigating an unfamiliar culture, life as an international student new to the U.S. presents unique challenges. Fortunately, international students can turn to classmates to make that challenge a lot less daunting. The International Student Center Peer Mentorship Program provides cultural, social and academic support to international students for one hour per week. This is a learning experience for mentees and mentors alike, offering an opportunity for cultural awareness and exchange. It’s Time To Start Thinking About Graduation!
Are you eligible for graduation? If the answer is yes, congrats! Now that you’re on your way, make sure to apply for graduation online through SDSU WebPortal by clicking on the “Apply to Graduate” menu option. A non-refundable $55 fee is also due to Student Account Services along with your application, and you can clear up any outstanding bills on your account through their office as well. All applications for May graduation are due by February 2. Plan ahead for graduation by visiting the SDSU Commencement website for important dates, and mark your calendars for SDSU Gradfest, which will take place March 22 to 24, 2016, in Montezuma Hall.

Aztecs, campus will be closed for Winter Break starting on December 22nd – we repeat, campus will be closed December 22 through December 25, and on January 1. For those of you who live on campus, as you pack up and get ready to leave for Winter Break, here’s a complete rundown of important dates to remember:
