SDSU Appreciates You, Commuter Students!

You really rock, commuter students. Every day, you battle traffic and parking or a transit delay to make it to class and get involved on campus. But your challenge is more than just a commute: we understand how difficult it can be to balance school, work and life when you’re not living on campus. In honor of you, the Commuter Resource Center in the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union is hosting a weeklong lineup of fun, including game night, movie night, trivia night and a scavenger hunt.

Calling all student artists! SDSU’s campus-wide arts initiative, called Arts Alive, needs your help to introduce its next work of art, the Arts Alive t-shirt design. All SDSU students are welcome to submit designs, which will be shared on social media. Submit your design via email to [email protected] using the subject heading of “T-shirt Contest Submission” by Oct. 6.

Give your family a glimpse of your life as an SDSU student when you bring them to campus for Family Weekend. Join in National Coming Out Week Activities, October 6 - 11

Join organizations across campus as they host and sponsor events in support of National Coming Out Day October 11. Tabling, open forums, panel discussions and social events are scheduled throughout the week to support those in SDSU’s LGBTQ community, regardless of how they identify, to live openly and without fear. On Oct. 10 at 7 pm, Scott Turner Schofield will speak about “Becoming a Man in 127 Easy Steps” in the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union Theatre. Don’t miss it!

Ability Abounds During Disability Awareness Month

Spend the month getting confident, getting educated, and getting real about disabilities. From Canine Companions to a talk by featured TED Talks speaker Maysoon Zayid, and a showing of the movie "Murderball," SDSU’s Student Disability Services is hosting a lineup of events that takes what can be a serious topic and morphs it into an fun exploration that will have you thinking about the ability part of having a disability.

Do you need health insurance? Everyone is now eligible for affordable healthcare coverage under the Affordable Care Act, either through Covered California or Medi-Cal. Attend an information forum, grab a snack and get more information about a healthcare plan for you.

ACA Information Forums are scheduled for:

  • Wednesday, October 8 at 5:00 pm
  • Tuesday, October 14 at 1:30 pm
  • Tuesday, October 21 at 5:00 pm
  • Wednesday, October 29 at 2:30 pm
