Film production major Chelsea Best knew she wanted to follow a creative path, but she had no idea that path would lead her all the way to Cannes. Best was invited to France for the prestigious film festival for her short film Enamored, which she directed, shot and edited. Chelsea is also active on campus as a member of PSFA Civil Core, which encourages volunteerism and participation in college-wide activities, and served as head videographer and projectionist for an SDSU Theatre production.

Take a break from studying for finals and join Aztec Nights for the Midnight Study Break and "The Final Blizzard." Unite in the fight against HIV this World AIDS Day on December 1, show your support for people living with HIV and commemorate people who have died. Come out to the SDSU Health Promotion table from 11 am to 2:30 pm on Centennial Walkway to learn more about HIV and AIDS and show your support for those living or affected by HIV.
If the end of the semester is causing heightened anxiety, the Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS) staff – and Baxter the therapy dog – are here to help. On Tuesday, December 6 from 12:30 to 1:30 pm CPS is hosting a “single serving” event featuring Baxter in the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union Courtyard. You have one more chance this year to add a little international flavor to your Friday afternoon on campus. The International Student Center hosts its final International Coffee hour at noon on December 2 – a regular event where students share their culture through performances and presentations. Students with an interest in national security and global affairs and a desire for a unique – and well-funded – study abroad experience should apply for the Boren Scholarship (for undergrads) before the February 9, 2017 deadline or the Boren Fellowship (for graduates) by January 31, 2017. Funded by the National Security Education Program (NSEP), the Boren Awards provide up to $24,000 to students who study abroad in areas of the world critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad. If you’re planning to be in San Diego over Winter Break, but are dreaming of more distant destinations, take the opportunity to speak with a study abroad advisor at the International Student Center Study Abroad Office. With classes out of session, wait times should be short. The office will be open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, with the exception of days that campus is closed.

The Relaxer Series runs from 9-11 am on December 15, 16 and 19, and from 3-8 pm on December 20 and 21.
