Welcome Home, Aztecs!

We’ve created a list of 20 SDSU hacks to help make this semester your best fall ever

@State Briefs

Welcome to SDSU

aztec nights

If you thought your official introduction to SDSU ended at orientation, think again. The real fun starts when Welcome Week kicks off on Friday, Aug. 22 with Templo del Sol, an annual Aztec tradition. When Welcome Week ends on August 30, Aztec Nights continues the fun through the end of September with some seriously awesome events.

Stay in the Loop

It happens to the best of us: a no-alarm-jump-out-of-bed-and-rush-to-campus kind of day. The only thing that makes that frazzled feeling worse? Finding a Career Fair in full swing on Campanile Walkway, complete with a rep from your dream company. Stay up to date on every Career Fair this semester and never miss an opportunity to impress a potential employer again. Career Services will also be introducing a brand new app this semester designed to give your Career Fair experience a boost.

Fun with Food

Tiki Night Aug 27 5-9p

Sure, your parents always told you not to play with your food at the dinner table, but in college even mealtime can be fun. Aztec Shops Dining is planning to deliver some enjoyable experiences along with tasty eats during dinnertime on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays this fall. Enjoy a Tiki-licious feast on August 27 at The Dining Room at Cuicacalli Suites, and taste tantalizing sushi on Thursday nights at the University Towers Kitchen, or UTK. For a full calendar of events, visit the Eat at SDSU events calendar.

SDSU’s Colleges of Professional Studies and Fine Arts and Business Administration partnered to create the new Music Entrepreneurship and Business Program. Launching this fall, the new degree program means woodwinds artists can become whizzes in entrepreneurial finance while chamber singers can seamlessly weave social entrepreneurship into their degree curriculum.

Stay Active, Aztecs

Summer may be winding down, but that doesn’t mean college life should turn into all work and no play. In fact, mixing in some fresh air and exercise with your academic agenda can really pay off. Whether you’ve been eyeing the climbing wall in the ARC or you want challenge yourself to climb a real rock in Joshua Tree National Park on an Aztec Adventure outing, it all starts with Aztec Recreation. Have some fun and learn more at ARC ‘til Dark on August 24.

Financial Aid Website Facelift

financial aid website

The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships website is getting an extreme makeover. While it won’t boost the amount of financial aid in your account, it may make it easier to find the answers to aid and scholarship questions you have. Check out the new and improved website starting in mid-September by visiting the same financial aid and scholarship website address you know so well.
