New Student and Family Convocation

Saturday, August 24, 2019

All new students and their families are invited to attend this ceremonial tradition and celebration to kick off the school year.

The Beginning of a College Career

Join us for New Student and Family Convocation on  Saturday, August 24, 2019

Just as commencement is a ritual marking the completion of study, convocation is a ritual that signals the beginning of a college career. Convocation brings new students and their families together with faculty and staff to mark a new beginning. It also serves as a vehicle to instill core institutional values of scholarship, citizenship and leadership.

Convocation and Commencement are ritual “bookends,” traditional milestones marking the beginning and culmination of your academic journey.

All new transfer, freshman and commuter students and their families are strongly encouraged to attend this special event.

When: 10:00 am, Saturday, August 24, 2019

Where: Viejas Arena, SDSU

Please RSVP online starting in July 2019.

Band Run

Plan to arrive early and join the Band Run! Students and their families will walk to Convocation together with the SDSU Marching Band and cheerleaders. You won't want to miss this fun, memorable excursion through the heart of campus.

What people say about Convocation...

"This was a most impressive and emotional way to start an educational journey and for parents and loved ones to let go of their children. That ceremony will always be one of my fondest memories."
