Mechanical engineering major Alberto Perez Jr. said his transformation all started during the summer before his first semester at State. As a participant in the SDSU Summer Bridge Program, he found himself inspired to pursue undergraduate research through The Center for Sensorimotor Neural Engineering (CSNE) supported by the National Science Foundation. Now Albert has found his purpose in developing innovative technologies that could one day transform lives.
There is still time to make your contribution to Aztecs Rock Hunger to help the San Diego Food Bank combat hunger in our community. Every $1 donated can purchase 6 lbs. of food for hungry San Diegans who don't know where their next meal is coming from. Support Aztecs Rock Hunger by donating online, placing non-perishable food in the red bins on campus, or by making a contribution at the November 5 football game. Twenty percent of the proceeds will help purchase campus meal cards for your fellow SDSU students in need through the Economic Crisis Response Team.

Each month the Career Services office offers several workshops for students to hone their skills when it comes to finding — and landing — that coveted job or internship. The best part — the events are free! Explore industries and majors, envision your future and achieve your goals with Career Services, located in Student Services East 1200. Healthy holiday eating — it’s possible
Turkey! Stuffing! Pie! ‘Tis the season for delicious food. While eating healthy during the holidays might seem like a lost cause, making smart choices is easier than you think. Make it a goal this holiday season to stop by Health Promotion’s “Healthy Eating During the Holidays” event on November 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Centennial Walkway. Learn about nutritious dishes, watch cooking demos, and take home new recipes to enjoy guilt-free. Don’t forget: campus is closed Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 24) and Friday (Nov. 25).
Explore International Peace Village
Get transported around the globe during International Education Week — without ever leaving the SDSU campus. The 60th annual International Peace Village — an event promoting global awareness, cross-cultural communication and international goodwill — will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on November 17 at Montezuma Hall. Meet international students from around the world as they present about their country and culture through games, fashion and performances. If you’re planning to go abroad, this is a unique chance to learn more about your destination from Aztecs who call it home. Join the SDSU Women’s Group
Did you know Counseling and Psychological Services offers a weekly group for all women-identified students? If you are looking to connect with others who identify as women, join the Women’s Group at SDSU. This group aims to explore common issues facing female college students, such as self-care, sexual health and cultivating relationships. Share your experience and find community. The Women’s Group meets every Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. in the Women’s Resource Center. Find out more about CP&S groups and workshops.
Get ready for hoops
The Aztecs men’s and women’s basketball teams are set to tip-off their 2016-17 seasons soon, meaning it’s almost time for you to show your support for the Aztecs as part of The Show. The defending Mountain West Conference champion men’s team opens the regular season against the University of San Diego on November 11. View the full men’s schedule here. Visit the Ombudsman
The Office of the Ombudsman can help you resolve problems with the university. The Ombudsman acts as the student liaison or mediator, and is a confidential, independent and neutral resource for students. They provide information, advice, intervention and referrals to try to solve problems at the most informal level possible. If you have a problem and don’t know where to start, contact the Ombudsman. Students can visit the Ombudsman for various situations, including faculty/staff conflicts, financial aid, fee disputes, grade appeals, discrimination and/or harassment, and more.
