May 2013 - Student Union Update

Aztec Student Union Year in Review

Student Union construction with cranes

Since steel erection began in September, Aztec Student Union has come a long way.

  • This past month, crew members completed the radiant flooring installation on the first floor that extends through the Starbucks location and the two café spaces.
  • Radiant flooring on the second and third floors is coming along nicely, with the second floor installation encompassing the student organization offices and the third floor installation including A.S. offices.
  • The Union is working towards dry-in, or making the building waterproof, in the coming months. Dry-in requires exterior drywall and sheathing, roofing and installation of windows and doors.
  • Once dry-in is complete, crew members can finish installation of insulation materials and get started on other interior work. So far, drywall has been installed in a clockwise fashion around the building, starting at the north wall near Student Services.
