Wondering how you’re going to spend your summer? Consider studying abroad! Summer programs are affordable, keep you on track to graduate and feature amazing destinations. But you’d better hurry; the deadline for summer programs is March 15. Find a program and destination right for you by attending a study abroad information session and visiting the Aztecs Abroad database.
Deadlines are approaching for two major study abroad scholarships. The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program (March 7) offers grants to U.S. citizen undergraduate students of limited financial means. The Hosteling International Travel Scholarship (March 15) offers $2,000 awards to U.S. residents ages 18-30 with demonstrated financial need. Who'd have thought that Harry Potter was the perfect lens through which to examine power and accountability in democratic and authoritarian regimes, the dynamics of group entities and the appeal of populism? Actually, Kimberly Twist did! The SDSU assistant professor in political science created a One-Unit Weekend course around the topic: “The Politics of Harry Potter” is Friday, March 10 and Saturday, March 18 at SDSU. As always, One-Unit Weekend courses are open to the public.
Become a part of the men’s basketball team by cheering them on as they take on New Mexico in this basketball viewing party. Did you know you can apply for your passport without leaving the SDSU campus? If you’re planning to study abroad or travel internationally during Spring Break or summer, now is the perfect time to visit the SDSU Passport Office. The facility is located at the International Student Center on the west side of campus and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 am to 3 pm. No appointment is necessary. SDSU Passport Office.
If you need one more unit to graduate, One-Unit Weekend courses through SDSU’s College of Extended Studies can help. One-Unit Weekend courses allow SDSU undergraduate students to earn extra units for graduation while also learning about the latest hot topics in areas such as public administration and political science.
