Aztecs Astound Food Bank

Fight Hunger this holiday season - bin full of food donations

SDSU went above and beyond what it hoped to raise for this year's Aztecs Rock Hunger food drive, raising 107,551 pounds of food for San Diegans in need.The competition ranked donations based on the ratio of pounds collected to student population at participating universities. Second place winner of the competition was Point Loma Nazarene, followed by UCSD and CSU San Marcos.

Aztec Creative Solutions, a student-run marketing agency, received praise from Chevrolet for successfully executing an integrated marketing campaign to promote awareness of several car models, including the All-New Chevrolet Spark.

"Social Media played a huge role in our campaign, not only did we get over 74,000 impressions on Facebook, but our campaign broke international barriers by reaching 20 countries throughout the world" said Daniel Gaona, Aztec Creative Solutions Advertising Manager.

A.S. Corner: Greenfest 2013

Mark your calendar for GreenFest 2013: March 18 – 21.

GreenFest is a weeklong celebration of sustainability and Aztec pride. Events include a variety of student team competitions, a keynote speaker, a bike brunch, farmers market and much more. Festivities culminate in a concert at the Open Air Theatre.

Students Create Cardboard Lounge Furniture

Professor David Fobes’ design students created chairs as part of a class project.

21 students created cardboard chairs that could withstand daily interaction with children.

“It’s a classic design problem…design and build a chair that they (students) can sit in for 30 minutes, from a single 4’ x 8’ sheet of 100 pound cardboard,” Fobes said.

As the semester progresses towards winter break, work continues on Aztec Student Union. This month, flying tanks invaded, welders became superheroes and a rooftop made surveying campus a little bit easier.
