Student assistant (graphic design/web)

Join an SDSU team that provides students with information about how they can connect with other students and opportunities at SDSU and provides students, faculty and staff with information about resources and support that improve equity and inclusion in our diverse campus community

Qualifications:

  • Possess strong editing and production skills for print and web projects.
  • Create and produce marketing materials that include, but not limited to: posters, rave cards, concept logos, brochures, e-newsletters, flyers, digital banners and advertisements.
  • Prepare and finalize digital and print files.
  • Must be able to work at minimum of 10 hours each week during the academic year.
  • Must present a design portfolio and have basic understanding of graphic design concepts and skills.
  • Must be familiar with Mac platform and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
  • Must be familiar with print and digital formats (native files, JPG, TIFF, PNG, EPS, PDF, etc.).
  • Access to Federal Work-Study funding a plus.
  • HTML/CSS knowledge in a CMS environment a plus.

The graphic design appointment is for the spring semester. There is the possibility of a summer appointment.

Student assistant (videography)

Qualifications:

  • Our student videographers help storyboard, shoot and edit short videos for social media, websites and events, as well as shoot and produce longer videos for events, websites and, occasionally, instructional purposes.
  • Our videographers also edit videos submitted by our partners around the university and crew for each other as needed.
  • We prefer experience shooting with a video camera and basic knowledge of lighting and audio. We use Premiere Pro or iMovie. Borrow our equipment or use your own.
  •  Experience shooting DSLR photos and using PhotoShop or Lightroom or Adobe Illustrator is a plus

Student-Athlete Academic Tutor
SDSU Student-Athlete Academic Support Services

Wage: $15/hour

Deadline: Jan. 31, 11:55 p.m. PST

Description: Student-Athlete Academic Support Services hires qualified tutors to meet with student-athletes and assist them in a wide variety of subject areas. Tutors are expected to help student-athletes master content, understand assignments, work through problems and improve their study skills. Tutoring is not a replacement for classroom instruction; rather, it serves as supplementary support to help student-athletes succeed in their courses.

We are especially interested in tutors for business prep courses (econ, MIS, accounting), stats, writing, criminal justice, ASL, sociology, and sciences, but we are in need of tutors for a wide range of subjects. Please include in your cover letter a list of courses you would be confident tutoring.

This position is part time and will likely be in person for the spring 2022 semester. Tutors can expect to work between five to 20 hours per week, depending on availability and tutoring demand. Applicants should have the ability to work evenings (preferred), the availability to tutor at least five hours per week (10 or more is preferred) and the ability to commit to tutoring for the duration of spring semester.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge base in one or more specific subject areas
  • B or better in the class(es) for which the student-athlete is being tutored or a demonstrated proficiency in the course material
  • Personable, understanding and patient
  • Ability to work with diverse populations of learners at various skill levels
  • Understanding of and commitment to academic integrity
  • Flexible schedule and ability to work evenings
  • Previous teaching or tutoring experience (preferred)
  • At least 30 college units earned (preferred)
  • Current student enrolled in courses

Administrative Student Assistant - Social Media (Federal Work Study)

Description: Under immediate supervision of faculty and staff in the School of Public Health, the administrative student assistant will help out with a number of tasks of high priority to the school (five hours per week), with particular emphasis on:

  • Social media communications
  • Coordination with schoolwide newsletters and news releases
  • Interface with student groups
  • Website content organization, in tandem with website manager, to go along with social media feeds

Qualifications:

  • Must be eligible for federal work study.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment; demonstrated typing skills on computer software (including Microsoft Word and Excel); and ability to learn office procedures. The student must be familiar with Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and other sites.
  • Candidates must possess basic knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation and knowledge of standard business rules of formatting. Ability to effectively communicate with students, faculty and other staff is essential, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Candidates must have previous experience in an office environment – interacting with numerous team members – and have the ability to assess necessary tasks and follow through with minimal supervision

Description: School in the Park (in Balboa Park) is looking for five or six work-study students to work as interns during the school year. The job involves aiding in lunch and snack supervision, as well as working with third- through eighth-grade students in museum classrooms and the zoo.

The job takes place in Balboa Park, so transportation is a necessity. Interested students would need to be available at least two days per week, from 10:30 a.m. - 3 or 3:30 p.m. or 11 a.m. – 4 p.m

This is an excellent opportunity for prospective elementary and middle school teachers to gain valuable experience working with children. You must qualify for work-study to be considered.

Human Resources Student Assistant (Federal Work Study)

Description: Provide customer service to visitors of the Center for Human Resources. This includes SDSU faculty, staff, students, new hires, volunteers and prospective employees. Support HR staff from various units with special projects. Assist with incoming inquiries; respond or refer inquiries as appropriate. Scan and index various documents into the content management system. Other duties as assigned.

Research Intern, Online Surveys

Description: We are looking for a dynamic, high-performing research intern to support our online survey team with survey programming and project management tasks. The ideal candidate has a passion for behavior change and experience in completing detail-oriented tasks in a deadline-driven environment. The research intern will be expected to work 16 to 29 hours per week, with the schedule to be determined upon hire.

  • Support online survey programming development in Qualtrics
  • Support social media recruitment / monitoring
  • Conduct fraud review and incentive distribution for online surveys
  • Perform survey data quality review and conduct data entry
  • Assist with report drafting and formatting and secondary research and literature reviews as needed
  • Support qualitative and quantitative data analysis and draft reports
