AS representative talking with a student

This year, Associated Students is introducing a new student government structure consisting of a board of directors and three councils – the Campus Life Council, the Judicial Affairs Council and the University Council.

Students can serve in a variety of appointed positions on the various commissions, committees and boards that comprise the board of directors and the councils, including:

  • Board of Directors: Audit Committee, Executive Committee, Facilities & Services Operations Committee, Finance Committee and Marketing & Communications Committee
  • Campus Life Council: Aztec Student Union Board, Campus Community Commission, Community Service Commission, Recreation and Wellness Commission, Sustainability Commission, Student Diversity Commission and the Student Support Commission, including the Children’s Center Board and the Commuter Student Board
  • Judicial Affairs Council: Appointment and Review Committee, Awards Committee and Elections Committee
  • University Council: External Relations Board, including Lobby Corps, Graduate Student Association, University Affairs Board, including Academic Affairs Board

The main purpose of the A.S. board of directors is to govern the organization by overseeing policies and objectives, and to ensure the values and goals of the A.S. organization are upheld. Each board, council, commission and board meets regularly at various dates and times.
