Featured Scholarship – John M. & Theodora Yarborough Memorial Scholarship

John M. & Theodora Yarborough Memorial Scholarship

  • Award: At least one scholarship of $1,000
  • Open to all majors
  • No minimum cumulative GPA
  • May 13, 2016 application deadline

Scholarship details

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be an enrolled full-time undergraduate or graduate student
  • Must be residing in the residence halls at the time of application
  • Demonstrate financial need, as determined by Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships
  • Have filed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California Dream Act Application by April 1
  • Submit a letter of recommendation from a current Resident Advisor (RA)
  • Submit an unofficial transcript
  • Submit a 500-word essay that addresses the following topics:
    • Describe how you have been an on-campus resident student who epitomizes the "best of residents," and who has demonstrated initiative and enthusiasm.
    • Please explain your genuine financial need for the coming academic year. Describe other sources of income including grants, loans, scholarships, and employment.
    • Describe your immediate and future educational goals.
    • Show how you have accomplished a high level of academic achievement as a San Diego State University resident.
