Faculty in the Department of Educational Leadership (EDL) are involved in several centers and initiatives which provide opportunities for continuous leadership development:

National Center for the 21st Century Schoolhouse

Dr. Cynthia Uline is Director of The National Center for the 21st Century Schoolhouse which supports the planning, design, and construction of learner-centered school facilities through communication, research, and training.

National Center for Urban School Transformation (NCUST)

Joseph F. Johnson, Jr., Dean of SDSU's College of Education, is Executive Director of The National Center for Urban School Transformation.  NCUST began in 2005 as a strategy to identify and study some of the nation’s most successful urban schools and continues today with a systematic approach for increasing the number of urban schools nationwide that achieve exceptional academic results.

The Department of Educational Leadership Department in conjunction with NCUST now offers the Clear Administrative Services Credential Program.  

Chinese & American Ed. Leadership Symposium

Dr. Cheryl James-Ward is the Director of the Chinese and American Educational Leadership Symposium.

The mission of the Symposium is to develop a lasting collegial and collaborative intellectual exchange between school leaders in The People’s Republic of China and the United States in order to prepare students on both sides of the Pacific to work together and thrive in a global society.
