Tony C. Chung

Associate Vice President for Student Affairs

photo of Tony ChungWith more than 20 years of progressively responsible senior-level experience in business, higher education, and technology, Mr. Chung is the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs at San Diego State University.

As Associate Vice President for Student Affairs, Mr. Chung reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA), and advises the VPSA on leadership, strategic planning, development, budgetary, human resources, facilities, and technology matters. He also oversees the strategic planning and operations of several departments in the division of Student Affairs.

Mr. Chung currently serves as a member of the President's Budget Advisory Committee (PBAC), Senate Committee on Academic Resources & Planning (AR&P), Budget Review Action Team (BRAT), Campus Fee Advisory Committee (CFAC), Information Technology Governance Steering Committee (ITGSC), and the Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI) Executive Committee. He is also the Project Manager for the mySDSU project, and was recently the co-chair of the CSU Graduation Initiative 2025 Financial Support Workgroup.

Prior to his appointment as Associate Vice President for Student Affairs, Mr. Chung served as Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs, and as Director of Technology Services for Student Affairs. For four years, he also oversaw the technology operations for Enrollment Management in the division of Academic Affairs, which included responsibilities over critical systems such as the SDSU WebPortal & SIMS/R. Prior to his affiliation with San Diego State University, Mr. Chung worked in the division of Student Affairs at the University of California, Riverside.

Mr. Chung's professional affiliations include the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO), Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), American College Personnel Association (ACPA), and EDUCAUSE.

Prior to his career in higher education, Mr. Chung was an entrepreneur and a professional in the field of business and technology, having worked as Chief Technology Officer, Vice President for Design and Development, and Director for Information Technology for companies in the private sector. In his career, he has worked with clients ranging from Major League Baseball to Carnegie Hall, and holds several technology patents.
