Blind and Low Vision Services

Student Disability Services provides accommodations on a case-by-case basis to students who are blind or have low vision.

Support Services Offered

  • Accommodated testing (e.g. extended time, reader, writer, tests in alternative format, and reduced-distraction environment)
  • Alternative media for accessible course materials (e.g. Braille and textbook conversion to electronic format)
  • Consultation with SDS staff to determine assistive technology needs
  • Disability-related advising
  • Mobility orientation to the SDSU campus
  • Notetaker services
  • Priority registration

Qualifying for Services

  • Individuals requesting services must be currently registered at SDSU. See Getting Started with Student Disability Services.
  • Accommodations will be determined in consultation with an SDS Counselor during an intake appointment.  After accommodations have been determined, students may begin requesting their authorized accommodations.
