Welcome Sponsored Students

We look forward to working with you during your studies here. The ISC is here to help make your transition to SDSU smooth and effective.

What is a sponsored student?

We identify a sponsored student as someone who is funded by a government or a company, not by private individuals or relatives.

A sponsored student is an international student who is funded by a government or agency and who must abide by specific scholarship regulations. These regulations are not the same as SDSU regulations. Each semester, hundreds of sponsored students study at SDSU, and most come from the countries of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Oman.

How does the ISC help sponsored students?

Every sponsored student has different needs, depending on their individual situation. You will work directly with the ISC, which acts as a liaison between SDSU and your scholarship sponsor. They will make sure you are doing everything you need to do to meet the requirements of every institution involved so that you:

  • Maintain your scholarship eligibility
  • Meet SDSU requirements including remediation
  • Meet and maintain important immigration requirements

The ISC can also help you learn how to take online courses and attend community college classes, how to meet remediation requirements, and more.
