Service and Leadership Scholarships

San Diego State University’s service and leadership scholarships are competitive scholarships awarded based primarily on your community service and leadership experiences in high school. The application process for service and leadership scholarships varies depending on the specific program.

Service and leadership scholarships may be renewed for up to four consecutive academic years (8 semesters) of undergraduate study if you continue to meet the scholarship’s eligibility criteria, which include academic, as well as service and leadership, requirements. You must be enrolled full-time each semester to maintain eligibility.

Vice President for Student Affairs Leadership Scholarship

Scholarship Value: Renewable awards of $5,000 - $7,500 per year

The Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA) Leadership Scholarship seeks to develop and strengthen the leadership skills of incoming students who wish to become actively involved at San Diego State University. VPSA Leadership Scholars receive four years of leadership training that enhances their personal leadership skills, provides valuable tools for future employment, and reinforces the important of service to one’s community. To be eligible for scholarship renewal, continuing VPSA Leadership Scholars must be in good standing in the VPSA Leadership Program, maintain a minimum 3.00 grade point average, and complete at least 24 units of coursework each year. To submit an online application for the Vice President for Student Affairs Leadership Scholarship, students should visit www.sdsu.edu/scholarshipsearch after they have submitted their admission application through Cal State Apply and been assigned an SDSU RedID number.
