Regional Scholarships

San Diego State University awards regional scholarships to high-achieving students who are graduating from high schools outside of SDSU’s local admissions area to support geographical diversity in our student body. The application process for regional scholarships is very competitive and varies depending on the specific program.

You must be enrolled full-time each semester to maintain eligibility.

SDSU Presidential Scholars Scholarship

Scholarship Value: Renewable awards of $5,000 - $10,000 per year

The SDSU Presidential Scholars Scholarship is awarded to up to 20 students who demonstrate a high-achieving academic profile and are graduating from specific high schools in targeted geographical areas in California. If you are eligible for the SDSU Presidential Scholars Scholarship, you will receive an invitation from San Diego State University to apply after you have submitted your application for admission. To be eligible for scholarship renewal, continuing SDSU Presidential Scholars must maintain a minimum 2.00 grade point average and complete at least 30 units of coursework each year.

Bay Area Regional Council Endowed Scholarship

Scholarship Value: One-year awards of at least $1,000 each

The Bay Area Regional Council Endowed Scholarship is awarded to a small number of select students who are permanent residents of, and have graduated from a high school in, one of the following Bay Area counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, or Sonoma. Recipients also must have a minimum high school grade point average of 3.50. To submit an online application for the Bay Area Regional Council Endowed Scholarship, students should visit www.sdsu.edu/scholarshipsearch after they have submitted their admission application through Cal State Apply and been assigned an SDSU RedID number.

Los Angeles Regional Council Endowed Scholarship

Scholarship Value: One-year awards of at least $1,000 each

The Los Angeles Regional Council Endowed Scholarship is awarded to a small number of select students who have a permanent address in Los Angeles County and a minimum high school grade point average of 3.50. To submit an online application for the Los Angeles Regional Council Endowed Scholarship, students should visit www.sdsu.edu/scholarshipsearch after they have submitted their admission application through Cal State Apply and been assigned an SDSU RedID number.

Orange County Regional Council Endowed Scholarship

Scholarship Value: Renewable awards of at least $1,000 per academic year

The Orange County Regional Council Endowed Scholarship is awarded to a small number of select students who have a permanent address in Orange County, California and a minimum high school grade point average of 3.00. To submit an online application for the Orange County Regional Council Endowed Scholarship, students should visit www.sdsu.edu/scholarshipsearch after they have submitted their admission application through Cal State Apply and been assigned an SDSU RedID number. To be eligible for scholarship renewal, continuing students must maintain a minimum 3.00 grade point average and complete at least 24 units of coursework each year.

Pacific Northwest Regional Council Endowed Scholarship

Scholarship Value: One-year awards of at least $1,000 each

The Pacific Northwest Regional Council Endowed Scholarship is awarded to a small number of select students who have a permanent address in the Pacific Northwest region and a minimum high school grade point average of 3.00. To submit an online application for the Pacific Northwest Regional Council Endowed Scholarship, students should visit www.sdsu.edu/scholarshipsearch after they have submitted their admission application through Cal State Apply and been assigned an SDSU RedID number.

Texas Regional Endowed Scholarship

Scholarship Value: Renewable awards of at least $10,000 per academic year

The Texas Regional Endowed Scholarship is awarded to a small number of select students who have a permanent address in Texas and a minimum high school grade point average of 3.00. To submit an online application for the Texas Regional Endowed Scholarship, students should visit www.sdsu.edu/scholarshipsearch after they have submitted their admission application through Cal State Apply and been assigned an SDSU RedID number. To be eligible for scholarship renewal, continuing students must maintain a minimum 3.00 grade point average and complete at least 24 units of coursework each year.
