What I do at Career Services
I am responsible for ensuring that the SDSU veteran community’s career focused efforts are supported to prepare them for professional careers after graduation. By coordinating various activities provided by the Joan and Art Barron Veterans Center and SDSU Career Services, I specialize in connecting internships and job opportunities for SDSU’s military student population. I also provide career development activities to build upon the success of the Troops to Engineers, Troops to Teachers, and Troops to Geo-Sciences programs.
A little bit about myself
I graduated (retired) from the Navy in 2009 after 20 years of service where I saw a need for transitional programs to prepare and include veterans into university and professional careers. That same year I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, and then went right into a Masters in Higher and Post-Secondary Education (M.Ed.) where I focused my research on veterans transitioning to universities after their military careers. My goals are to continue to ensure the success of veterans as they transition into and out of San Diego State University.
For fun I enjoy running, cycling, swimming – yes, Ironman (twice) and 10 half-Ironman races. I play volleyball and played for the Navy and the All-Armed Forces Volleyball Teams for 6 years.
