New A.S. Executive Officers Prepare to Take Office

SDSU students elected a new group of executives and representatives in the Associated Students elections, held March 17 – 20. For the complete election results, please visit the A.S. Elections page. Here are some brief introductions to your new student executive officers:

Jonathan Cole

A.S. President

Jonathan Cole, or J. Cole as he prefers to be called, is the new A.S. president. He is a fourth-year finance major from Petaluma, Calif. He has held numerous leadership roles on campus including:
•    Student at Large, A.S. Board of Directors
•    President, Interfraternity Council
•    Peer Leadership Consultant
•    Member, Sigma Phi Epsilon
•    Member, Rotaract
•    Member, Business Honors Program
•    Student employee, Office for Student Life and Leadership

During his time at SDSU, J. Cole has been recognized as a Vice President of Student Affairs Rising Star Scholar, the Future Rising Business Star for the College of Business, and a Quest for the Best recipient.
This year, J. Cole is looking forward to connecting more student groups to Associated Students, as well as utilizing a full year of programming in the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union to enhance the overall Aztec experience.

Kevin Hancock

A.S. Executive Vice President

A.S. Executive Vice President Kevin Hancock is a senior who is double majoring in Spanish and hospitality and tourism management. Kevin’s involvement in Associated Students began his freshman year as the Freshman Leadership Experience Team Leader. He continued as the A.S. Representative for the College of Arts and Letters and as a Student at Large on the Board of Directors. He has also served as:
•    President, College of Arts and Letters Council
•    Member, A.S. Green Love Committee
•    Member, Aztec Pride

As executive vice president, he is excited to work collaboratively with students, athletics, alumni, and the surrounding community to encourage Aztec pride and participation on and around campus.

Jacqueline Karczewski

A.S. Vice President of External Relations

A.S. Vice President of External Relations Jacqueline Karczewski is a senior majoring in integrated marketing communications. Jacqueline’s involvement with Associated Students began as a member of the A.S. Freshman Leadership Experience Team and continued as a member of the president’s cabinet and the community service representative. Her on-campus involvement includes:
•    Member, Good Neighbor Program
•    Member, American Marketing Association
•    Member, Alpha Phi Fraternity for Women
•    Member, A.S. Marketing and Communications Board
•    Member, A.S. Campus Life Council

This year Jacqueline will focus on communication with students about campus initiatives and programs; outreach to the greater SDSU community; providing resources to help students with outreach and marketing for their events; increasing awareness of legislation and issues affecting students and collaboration with the California State Student Association.

Alex Padua

A.S. Vice President of Financial Affairs

Alexander Padua, A.S. vice president of financial affairs, is a senior majoring is finance with a minor in Spanish.  Alex has been actively involved on campus and has served as:
•    President, Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity
•    Vice President of Technology, Finance and Investment Society
•    Member, Rotaract
•    Member, SDSU Cast
•    Member, A.S. Financial Affairs Committee

As vice president of financial affairs, Alex wants to ensure that all students benefit and are positively impacted by A.S. and ensure that facilities, campus programming, and student organizations all receive the necessary funds to function and provide beneficial opportunities for all students.

Corey Polant

A.S. Vice President of University Affairs

Corey Polant, A.S. vice president of university affairs, is a senior majoring in sociology with a minor in public administration. Corey’s involvement in Associated Student began his sophomore year as an appointee to the A.S. President’s Cabinet. He has also served in the following roles:
•    President, Phi Delta Theta Fraternity
•    Vice President of Internal Affairs, Phi Delta Theta
•    Vice President, T.A.C.A (Talk About Curing Autism)
•    Scholarship Director, Interfraternity Council
•    A.S. Student Support Commissioner
•    Member, A.S. University Affairs Board
•    Member, A.S. Facilities Board
•    Member, University Senate Constitution & Bylaw Committee

This year, Corey will focus on connecting and creating a “home base” for students in their respective college councils; encouraging commuter students to get involved on campus and making sure they feel supported in their efforts; and working with students, faculty and administration to ensure Student Success Fee funds are allocated to the appropriate and needed campus departments.
