Aztec Nights and Aztec Student Union Events Electrify the Spring Semester

Aztec Nights Spring 2014

The first two weeks of school will be packed with events at the new Aztec Student Union thanks to Aztec Nights and the Welcome Home events planned for students returning to campus.

“Students may be apprehensive to reach out and talk to someone they don’t know, but so many people are open to talking and meeting someone new,” said Mariah Kelly, vice president of financial affairs for Associated Students. Kelly encouraged all students to attend the fun and free events planned for the spring.

With at least 1,500 students attending each Aztec Nights event Kelly said every student is bound to meet someone who could become a great friend. With the events being open to all students with a valid Red ID, they are a great way for students to enjoy the beginning of the semester in a safe, fun environment.

Here is a summary of the upcoming Aztec Nights events:

  • Basketball Watch Party and UP All Night
On Wednesday, Jan. 22, from 6 to 8 pm, come watch the SDSU men’s basketball team play San Jose State on-screen at the Union Theater. After the game, be ready to dance to music while you glow-in-the-dark at Montezuma Hall until 1 am.
  • Winter Wonderland
Ever miss the snow that sunny San Diego is lacking? Come to the Winter Wonderland on Thursday, Jan. 23, from 9 pm to 1 am, where 50 tons of snow will cover Scripps Lawn for you to sled on and build snowmen. After playing in the snow, drink some hot chocolate and decorate cookies that will be provided.

Afterwards, join Alpha Phi and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) as they host a dance night at Montezuma Hall.  DJ Fingaz will be providing the music, there will be food from Cheba Hut, mocktails, a mechanical bull, and much more!
  • The Aztec Hunger Games
The Hunger Games is coming to SDSU! On Thursday, Jan. 30, from 9 pm to 1 am at Montezuma Hall, battle it out against fellow students in obstacle courses and games to collect points that you can trade in for food and prizes. Then, watch the actual Hunger Games movie and compare it to your own battles!
  • Montezuma Masquerade
On Friday, Jan. 31, from 9 pm to midnight, dress up in your red and black formal attire for the Montezuma Masquerade. Make your own mask to wear, play billiards, and enjoy hors d’oeuvres as you party with your newfound friends.
