Nov. 28 in the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union Theatre

Session 1: 9:30 to 11 a.m.

Session 2: 1:30 to 3 p.m.

Emily Austin, JD, is the Director of Advocacy Services for the California Coalition Against Sexual Assault (CALCASA). She works on improving system responses to sexual assault in such areas as college/university, incarcerated populations, and workplace.  She provides technical assistance and training to rape crisis centers and collaboration partners on issues of trauma-informed strategies, collaborative models, and advocacy. A native of Northern California, Ms. Austin graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a BA in Women’s Studies and English. She received her law degree from the University of Southern California; Gould School of Law.  Upon graduating law school, Emily was an Audrey and Sydney Irmas Fellow at the California Women’s Law Center.  Her fellowship focused on teen dating violence and the educational system’s response to teen dating violence, sexual assault, and sexual harassment.  She previously worked at Peace Over Violence where she helped publish several curricula and policy papers. She founded the Coalition for Healthy Teen Relationships and the Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Advisory Council—both groups look at system changes and shifting social norms to promote healthy relationships.
