This summer, Professor Alexander Chizhik started a three-year Fulbright Fellowship in Odessa, Ukraine. During these three years, he will spend the summers in Odessa conducting a series of workshops with faculty and future teachers within the Institute of Physics and Mathematics at the Ushinsky’s Southern Ukrainian State Pedagogical University.
Between the summers he will be conducting some classes in Odessa via Skype as well as participating in joint projects.
The first summer in Odessa was quite productive, including presenting a series of workshops to mathematics faculty, supporting the development of a robotics course with physics faculty, consulting with faculty on their research and instruction, initiating joint research projects, and founding of a summer robotics club for children of faculty.
Professor Chizhik especially looks forward to the unplanned opportunities that will come his way as he serves as a Fulbright Scholar in Odessa.
