Travel Scholarships

A variety of scholarships are available for students interested in studying abroad. While San Diego State University offers a wide variety of scholarships, there are many, many more available through private organizations or other outlets. Make sure to do an extensive search.

In order to apply for any scholarships offered through SDSU, you must first access your Aztecs Abroad Account

Associated Students

The Associated Students Study Abroad Scholarship is awarded each semester to students pursuing study abroad programs. Scholarship awards are a minimum of $400 and can be used towards all components of a study abroad program. Students must apply online. Application includes a short essay and SDSU Scholarship Application.

International Student Center Education Abroad Scholarships

The International Student Center provides an extensive list of databases to search for available scholarships. Take the time to consider all possible scholarship options. Remember, there are an increased number of scholarships available for students studying in non-western countries. Many organizations want to encourage students to study in these locations.

SDSU Office of Financial Aid

Students have the ability to use their federal, university and departmental financial aid award on study abroad programs. Even if a student has not received financial aid in the past, they are encouraged to check it out if they are thinking about participating in a study abroad program. Because of increased costs, many students who may have not previously been eligible receive aid. It never hurts to apply.

Check out SDSU’s Office of Financial Aid & Scholarship website detailing the study abroad process and how to use your financial aid.
