Master of Arts and Credentials


The Department of Educational Leadership offers two options leading to the California Preliminary Administrative Services Credential.

Master of Arts degree in Education with a Concentration in Educational Leadership and a Specialization in PreK-12

The MA in PK-12 Educational Leadership requires students to complete coursework required for the administrative credential plus nine additional units related to research and the completion of an action research project.

Preliminary Administrative Services Credential Only

The Credential Only option is available to those who already hold a master's degree; these students are required to complete the 30 unit credential sequence.

Online Master of Arts degree in Education with a Concentration in Educational Leadership and a Specialization in PreK-12

The online MA in Education with a concentration in Educational Leadership and a specialization in PK-12 is a collaboration between San Diego State University and the San Diego County Office of Education. All courses in this program are taught with a focus on technology.

The Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.) Program in Educational Leadership, with PK-12 Concentration, is designed as a professional doctorate degree within which carefully selected student cohorts develop advanced research and leadership skills related to their institutional settings.

Community College/Post-Secondary Concentration

The Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.)
