Director: Rachel Haine-Schlagel, PhD

picrhs2Dr. Haine-Schlagel received her PhD in clinical psychology from Arizona State University and completed post-doctoral training in child mental health services research at the Child & Adolescent Services Research Center (CASRC) through the University of California, San Diego and Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego.   She is currently an investigator at CASRC, as well as a licensed psychologist and certified trainer for an evidence-based engagement intervention for child and family mental health services. Prior to joining the CFD faculty, Dr. Haine-Schlagel was an Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Psychology at San Diego State University. I am a first year graduate student at San Diego State University in the Masters in Child and Family Development program. I obtained a B.A. in Psychology and a B.A. in Design from the University of San Francisco. I have experience working with children in a variety of roles including tutoring, preschool teacher’s aid, youth ministry leader, behavior interventionist and early interventionist.

I am an undergraduate student at SDSU majoring in Psychology                                        and minoring in Spanish and Child and Family Gina May Undergraduate Lab InternDevelopment. After graduation, I will pursue a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and want to study the effects of community and family life on child mental health. I am especially interested in researching risilience in youth, the effects of trauma and family violence on children throughout development, and child maltreatment.
