Guest Admission Tickets

Candidates whose applications are approved for graduation will receive complimentary guest tickets for their commencement ceremony at Viejas Arena. Guest tickets are required for all guests ages one (1) year of age and older. Tickets will be distributed during GradFest in Montezuma Hall at the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union, March 21-23, from 9:30 a.m.-7p.m.

SDSU RedID card or a valid, government-issued picture ID is required to obtain tickets. 

Ceremony Ticket Allotment

The ticket allotment by ceremony will be available in late February.

Post-GradFest Ticket Distribution

Beginning Friday, March 24, students who did not claim tickets at GradFest can obtain them at the Viejas Arena Ticket Office. 

If a student does not claim tickets by 4 p.m. on Friday, May 5, the Ticket Office cannot guarantee a full allotment of commencement tickets.

Beginning Monday, May 8, the Ticket Office will distribute remaining tickets, if any are available, to any SDSU student with a valid RedID. These tickets will be distributed two-at-a-time on a first-come, first-served basis.

Proxy Ticket Distribution

Beginning at GradFest, March 21-23, and at the Ticket Office, March 24 through May 5, a friend or relative may claim tickets for graduating students who still live in San Diego but cannot come to the university to pick up their tickets. The student must submit the Proxy Ticket Request Form (available in February) no less than 24 hours before the date their proxy comes to pick up tickets. If the form is not received within this time frame, tickets will not be available for the proxy to pick up.

The proxy should know which commencement ceremony the student will be participating in. The proxy does not need to have a form to pick up the tickets, but they will need to present their own, government-issued ID. The tickets will be in an envelope with the proxy's name on it and that envelope will be at the designated line for the graduating student's ceremony at GradFest or at the Ticket Office.  

Proxy ticket distribution will not be allowed during the additional ticket distribution date on Monday, May 8. On that date, additional tickets will only be given out to SDSU students who present a valid RedID.

Students must advise the Ticket Office representative at GradFest (or the Viejas Arena Ticket Office after GradFest) if any of their guests have difficulty walking up or down stairs. Tickets to accommodate those guests will be included in the maximum number of tickets available to each student.

Students must also advise the Ticket Office representative if they have guests who use a wheelchair. The student will be given a specific wheelchair ticket along with a companion ticket. The wheelchair and companion ticket will be included in the maximum number of tickets allotted. 

These tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. If a student does not request these types of tickets in advance, the Ticket Office cannot guarantee that any will be available on the day of their ceremony.

Mail Ticket Distribution

The Viejas Arena Ticket Office will only send tickets to students living outside of San Diego County. Students should complete the Commencement Ticket Request Form (available in February) to request their tickets.
