Tickets

Admission tickets are required for all ceremonies. Candidates who applied for graduation receive complimentary, reserved seating. Please note, SDSU does not authorize the sale of complimentary tickets.

GradFestGradFest Ticket Distribution

  • Date: March 25-27
  • Time: 9:30 a.m.-7 p.m.
  • Location: GradFest, in front of the SDSU Bookstore

SDSU RedID card or a valid, government-issued picture ID is required to claim tickets. 

Ceremony Ticket Allotment

The number of tickets available to each student is dependent upon the number of candidates graduating in each college. The ticket allotment by college is as follows:

Arts and Letters - 6

Business Administration - 7

Education and Division of Undergraduate Studies - 12

Engineering - 12

Health and Human Services - 8

Professional Studies and Fine Arts - 6

Sciences - 6

Post-GradFest Ticket Distribution

Beginning Friday, March 28, students who did not claim tickets at GradFest can claim them at the Viejas Arena Ticket Office. 

If a student does not claim tickets by 4 p.m. on Friday, May 9, the ticket office cannot guarantee the student will receive a full allotment of commencement tickets.

Beginning Monday, May 12, the ticket office will distribute remaining tickets, if any are available, to any SDSU student with a valid RedID only. These tickets will be distributed two-at-a-time on a first-come, first-served basis.

Proxy Ticket Distribution

A friend or relative may claim tickets for a students. 

The friend/relative must:

  • Present the graduating student’s RedID card or a valid, government-issued picture ID
  • Know from which college the student is graduating


Mail Ticket Distribution

The Viejas Arena Ticket Office will only mail tickets to students living outside of San Diego County. Please fill out the Commencement Ticket Mail Request form and return to the Viejas Arena Ticket Office.

Not on the Ticket List?

If a graduating student is not on the ticket distribution list or does not have an active application for graduation on file, the student should contact:

Disability AccessDisability Access

Graduates must advise the Ticket Office Representative at GradFest or the Ticket Office post-GradFest if any of their guests have difficulty walking up and down stairs. The graduate will then be given tickets to accommodate those guests.

There will be a limited number of wheelchairs available for guests to use at no charge. Wheelchairs will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis at the Viejas Arena meeting center (small building immediately west of Viejas Arena main entrance). To check out a wheelchair you will need a valid ID. Wheelchairs are not to leave the campus and must be returned within one hour after the conclusion of the ceremony.  

Any guests using a wheelchair will need to have a specific ticket in order to accommodate their seating needs. 

There will be a limited number of assistive listening devices available for hearing impaired guests at no charge. Listening devices will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis at the Pass Gate at Viejas Arena. To check out a listening device you will need a valid ID.
