Guest Admission Tickets

Students who graduated in December of the previous year and candidates who applied for graduation in May and August of the current year by the published filing period deadline will receive complimentary guest tickets for their commencement ceremony at Viejas Arena. Guest tickets are required for all guests ages one (1) year of age and older. Tickets will be distributed during GradFest in Montezuma Hall at the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union, March 20-22, from 9:30 a.m.-7p.m.

SDSU RedID card or a valid, government-issued picture ID is required to obtain tickets. 

Ceremony Ticket Allotment

The ticket allotment by ceremony is as follows:

Arts and Letters: 6
Business: 5
Education/Academic Engagement and Student Achievement: 6
Engineering: 10
Health and Human Services: 6
Professional Studies and Fine Arts: 6

Post-GradFest Ticket Distribution (updated as of 4/16/18)

Beginning Friday, March 23, students who did not claim commencement tickets at GradFest will obtain them at the Viejas Arena Ticket Office.

If a student does not claim tickets by 4 p.m. on Friday, April 27, the Ticket Office cannot guarantee the student will receive the full number of commencement tickets.

After Friday, April 27, the Ticket Office will distribute any remaining tickets two-at-a-time to any student who presents a valid SDSU RedID according to the schedule listed below by college. If a student needs more tickets, they can get back into line to get an additional two tickets. Additional tickets will only be distributed to those who present their own valid SDSU RedID. Multiple RedID cards cannot be presented. The RedID must belong to the person picking up the tickets.

Proxy authorization forms WILL NOT be accepted during the extra ticket distribution dates.

Proxy Ticket Distribution

Beginning at GradFest, March 20-22, and at the Ticket Office, March 23 through April 27, a friend or relative may claim tickets for graduating students who still live in San Diego but cannot come to the university to pick up their tickets. The student must fill out a Proxy Ticket Request Form and have their proxy bring the form to GradFest or the Viejas Arena Ticket Office (starting on March 23) to pick up their tickets. The proxy will also need to present their own, government-issued ID. 

Proxy ticket distribution will not be allowed during the additional ticket distribution dates listed above.

Disability AccessDisability Access

Students must advise the Ticket Office representative at GradFest (or the Viejas Arena Ticket Office after GradFest) if any of their guests have difficulty walking up or down stairs. Tickets to accommodate those guests will be included in the maximum number of tickets available to each student.

Students must also advise the Ticket Office representative if they have guests who use a wheelchair. The student will be given a specific wheelchair ticket along with a companion ticket. The wheelchair and companion ticket will be included in the maximum number of tickets allotted. 

These tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. If a student does not request these types of tickets in advance, the Ticket Office cannot guarantee that any will be available on the day of their ceremony.

Mail Ticket Distribution

The Viejas Arena Ticket Office will only send tickets to students living outside of San Diego County. Students should complete the Commencement Ticket Request Form to request their tickets.
