SDSU Harambee Weekend 2017

SDSU Harambee Weekend is a personalized event for Admitted students and their families that provides insight into the SDSU African-American/Black community. You will experience student life and get a glimpse of the many opportunities that SDSU has to offer.

Harambee Weekend activities include:

  • Welcome to campus
  • Meeting student leaders from student organizations
  • Student forums
  • Parent forums
  • Financial Aid presentation
  • Dinner/Entertainment
  • Student social

Harambee Weekend includes an optional overnight stay in one of our own Residence Halls. Harambee Weekend concludes with attending Explore SDSU Open House.

All activities take place on the SDSU campus.  

Residential Experience Option – Students are offered an option to stay on campus Friday night. This optional component of Harambee weekend will give you the opportunity to be paired up with a Harambee Alumni (current SDSU student) and experience what it is like to live in the residence halls.  Spots are very limited and will be filled on a first come-first serve basis.

Accommodations for Parents/Guest – Visit the Aztec Parent Programs website for discount rates on local hotels and airport shuttles.

About the Harambee Scholars Program

The Harambee Scholars Program at San Diego State University supports SDSU's Strategic Plan, and guides students to make connections with on-campus faculty, staff, departments and student organizations to create a positive experience for them during their journey at the university. The Harambee Scholars Program is a collaboration amongst SDSU departments including Africana Studies, the Center for Intercultural Relations, the College of Sciences, Enrollment Services and the Educational Opportunity Program and Ethnic Affairs (EOP).
